Description
Harvest mouse. Harvest mouse (Micromys minutus) emerging from its nest. The nest is built by the pregnant female for housing her young. It is woven from and lined with grass stalks and is suspended around 50 centimetres above the ground. A new nest is constructed for each litter, usually two to three times each year. The harvest mouse is a very active climber, spending much of its time feeding amongst the stalks of grasses or cereals. It occurs from northern Spain and southern England through eastern Europe up to Japan.
