Description
Herbert George Wells (1866-1946), British science fiction writer. Wells studied biology at the Royal College of Science, London, England under Thomas Henry Huxley before becoming a journalist and then an author. He wrote numerous books, the most famous of which include The Time Machine (1895), The War of the Worlds (1898), The Invisible Man (1897) and The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896). He has become known as the father of modern science fiction. This image is from the Bain News Service, one of America's oldest news picture agencies, which holds images dating from the 1890s to the 1930s.
