Description
Fossil brachiopod and Roman lamp. These are replica casts of the originals. The fossil is of the brachiopod Terebratula maxima, described by Charlesworth in 1837. Brachiopods are a group of extinct marine shelled animals. This specimen dates from the Pliocene (around 2.5 to 5.3 million years ago). The Romans occupied parts of Britain during the first four centuries AD. These objects are from an outcrop of the Coralline Crag formation located at Park Pit, Sudbourne Park, Suffolk, UK.
