Description
Fog bow. Sunlight passing through a layer of mist above a rural landscape to create a rainbow-like arc, known as a fog bow or white rainbow. Unlike rainbows, fog bows are caused by diffraction of light rather than refraction and reflection. Because the droplets in fog are smaller than in rain, the optical interference is greater, and the light that emerges is completely colourless.
