Description
Fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) mushroom growing in a grassy area. This poisonous mushroom is the fruiting body of the Amanita muscaria fungus. This specimen is immature, and is still covered in its universal veil. As it grows, the veil is lost and the fungus takes on its characteristic toadstool appearance. The caps can be dried and used for their hallucinogenic compounds. This fungus is commonly found among birch trees in temperate regions, fruiting in the autumn. Photographed in Wales, UK.
