Description
Eclipse shadows on a wall. Shadows on the wall of a house during an annular solar eclipse. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes across the Sun as seen from Earth. During an annular solar eclipse, the Sun is not completely hidden and a ring of sunlight remains visible. This pattern on the wall is an optical effect caused by sunlight from the eclipse passing through spaces between leaves on a tree. Photographed in California, USA, during the annular solar eclipse of 20 May 2012.
