Description
Dragon Lake, southern Siberia, Russia, true-colour satellite image. North is at top. The image was acquired in winter when the lake was frozen into ice (white). The lake, Bratskove Reservoir, formed behind Bratsk Dam (top left). Three rivers supply most of the water. One flows from bottom left and one from bottom centre. The main flow (from lower right) is from the Angara River, the main outlet from Lake Baykal (not seen). The outflow of the lake is beyond the dam at top left. This 120- kilometre-wide image was taken on 19 December 1999, in visible wavelengths, by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor aboard NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
