SpaceX Demonstration Mission 1 on the launchpad at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. The Dragon 2 capsule (left) is mounted aboard a Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket, with the gangway arm extended from the launch tower to the capsule. This mission will be the first orbital test of the Dragon 2 spacecraft, scheduled for launch on March 2, 2019. Dragon 2 is a class of reusable spacecraft in development by American aerospace manufacturer SpaceX. The mission will test the approach and automated docking procedures with the International Space Station (ISS). The capsule will remain docked for a few weeks, then conduct re-entry, splashdown and recovery steps to test the craft for flights transporting humans to the ISS.
