Description
Doleritic sill. This columnar dolerite is igneous rock that has intruded up through older layers of rock, due to volcanic events 125 million years ago. It has solidified into polygonal columns, hence the name 'Organ pipes'. Photographed in the Valley of the Organ Pipes, Damaraland, Namibia.
