Description
DC (direct current) motor shell, housing the armature. The armature contains the rotor, with its copper wire winding. Also inside the shell of the motor are the permanent magnets inside which the rotor sits. DC motors, or generators, produce electricity by converting mechanical energy to direct electrical power based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. According to this law, when a conductor moves in a magnetic field it cuts through lines of magnetic flux, which induces an electromotive force in the conductor.
