Description
Dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) foliage. This fast growing conifer was first discovered as an eight million year old fossil in 1941. It was then found alive in 1944, growing at the bottom of deep gorges in the Sichuan-Hubei region of China. Photographed at Moorbank Botanical Garden, Newcastle University, UK.
