Constellation of Ursa Major. Optical image of the stars of the northern constellation of Ursa Major (the Great Bear). Within this constellation is the asterism called the Big Dipper. One of the most prominent stars is Dubhe or Alpha Ursae Majoris (orange, upper centre). This constellation has 20 main stars. It is one of the 88 modern constellations adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1922.
