Description
Reaction of a gram of marble in acid. A gram of marble powder (L) and a gram of marble chips (R) are immersed in a solution of 25cc of dilute hydrochloric acid to discover if there is a difference in reaction. Because of the greater surface area of the powder the reaction is more vigorous. Hydrogen gas and exothermic heat are released in the reaction. Marble is a form of calcium carbonate.
