Description
Coalite chemical plant. Coalite is a smokeless fuel made from coal, which is used for domestic heating. There are numerous by-products produced during the processing of the coal, many of which are further processed into industrial chemicals, for example coal tars can be turned into chlorinated chemicals. Examples of chemical intermediates produced at the plant in addition to coalite include adhesives, biocides, fungicides for crops, wood preservation chemicals and photographic film. Photographed at the Coalite chemical complex, Derbyshire, England.
