Chlorophyll B. Molecular model of the plant pigment chlorophyll B (C55.H70.Mg.N4.O6). This molecule has a magnesium ion at the centre of a chlorin ring. It plays an essential role in photosynthesis in plants. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue), oxygen (red) and magnesium (green).
