Description
Charles Moss Duke (born 1935), US astronaut. Duke was the lunar module pilot for NASA's Apollo 16 mission to the moon. He is one of twelve people that walked on the Moon during the Apollo programme. He and John Young spent just under three days on the Moon from 21-23 April 1972. Duke retired from NASA in 1975. He attained the rank of Brigadier General in the US Air Force in 1979, retiring in 1986. He lives with his wife in Texas, USA, and in retirement has worked as a businessman, consultant, and motivational speaker. Photographed in June 2011, at a Tenerife Astronomical Conference in La Palma, the Canary Islands.
