Description
Camille Flammarion (1842-1925), French astronomer, and his first wife Sylvie (1880-1962). In 1882, after working for the Paris Observatory, Camille Flammarion founded L'Astronomie, a monthly popular astronomy magazine. The following year he founded the observatory of Juvisy-sur-Orge and, in 1887, the French Astronomical Society. Flammarion wrote many books, the best known of which is L'Astronomie Populaire (1879).
