Description
Bucket elevator dust explosion. Test explosion taking place in a replica of a bucket elevator, a structure used to transport industrial cargoes such as coal, grain or fertilisers. The explosion has been caused by the ignition of dust from the materials in the elevator. This test is part of industrial health and safety research carried out by what is now the UK's Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL). Photographed in the 1990s.
