Description
British cavalry crossing a trench, First World War. Horses were used extensively for transport and logistics by the British Army in the First World War (1914-1918). The majority of fighting along the Western Front occurred in the form of trench warfare. These soldiers are near Nieuwkerke (Neuve-Eglise) in the Ypres Salient in Belgium.
