Description
MODEL RELEASED. Blood plasma thawing machine. Device for warming frozen blood plasma for use in blood transfusions. Plasma is the straw-coloured liquid component of blood that remains after the suspended cells have been removed. It is stored at -18 degrees Celsius and must be warmed to body temperature (36.9 degrees Celsius) before transfusion into a patient. Bags of plasma are placed in a warm water bath in this machine, which automatically agitates them to speed the thawing process. Blood plasma is rich in clotting factors and is used to replace blood lost during childbirth and cardiac surgery, and to treat many types of bleeding disorders.
