Description
Bergs and pack-ice off the coast of the Antarctic peninsula. These waters are often covered with extensive areas of pack-ice and bergs such as this tabular berg with its flat top and its caves eroded by the action of the sea. Tabular bergs are formed from ice-shelves, where the Antarctic ice- sheet floats on the sea whilst remaining attatched to the continental ice. The ice edge calves the characteristic tabular bergs, some of which may be many kilometres in length and breadth.
