Description
Antarctic temperatures. Computer model showing the average surface temperatures from December to May in the Antarctic for the years 1990 to 1999. Temperatures considered normal are white. Temperatures cooler than normal, range from light grey to dark grey (coolest) and temperatures warmer than normal, range from yellow to orange (warmest). During this period some areas had warmer than normal temperatures, but the pole remained normal. This model was produced as part of a study on the impact of ozone (a greenhouse gas) in the lowest part of the atmosphere (troposphere) on Antarctic surface temperatures.
