Description
Bennett Noah Epstein (1923-2008), US chemical engineer. Epstein studied at Columbia and MIT, before working for the DuPont chemical company, one of the largest in the world. He was awarded the company's Lavoisier Medal for Technical Achievement in 1996 for leading the research that resulted in 1973 in reinforced semi-crystalline thermoplastics like supertough nylon (Zytel ST). Active in the civil rights movement in the 1960s, he was Vice-Chair of the Delaware State Human Relations Commission, and also led the Jewish Federation of Delaware.
