Description
Ben Allanach (born 1971), British particle physicist. Allanach's main area of research is the theory of supersymmetry at the University of Cambridge, UK. Supersymmetry (SUSY) is a particle physics theory that underlies the balance of the universe. It states that each sub-atomic particle, such as the photon or quark, has a matching antimatter particle, such as the photino or squark. Here, he is holding a jar filled with jelly beans, which represents the universe. Most of the universe is dark matter and dark energy, with only 5% of it (such as stars and humans) being made up of familiar atomic matter (coloured beans).
