Bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) juvenile. Bald eagles are the national symbol of the United States of America. They are native only to North America. They feed mainly on fish, and so tend to live near lakes and marshland. The distinctive white head of the bald eagle is not attained until the young reach the age of 4 or 5. Adult females can reach a wingspan of 2 metres. Photographed in Baja California, Mexico.
