Description
Asthma inhalers. Assorted aerosol inhalers used to treat asthma. From left are Ventolin (Salbutamol sulphate, 100 micrograms), Serevent (Salmeterol xinafoate, 25 micrograms), Bricanyl (Terbutaline sulphate, 250 micrograms), Becotide (Beclomethasone dipropionate, 100 micrograms) and Qvar (Beclomethasone dipropionate, 200 micrograms). The aerosol cans are seen at the top of the plastic mouthpiece units. These devices deliver bronchodilator drugs (open airways) and/or steroid drugs (reduce inflammation) directly to the lungs. This can prevent or provide relief from a bronchospasm (narrowing of air passages in the lungs).
