Description
Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) larvae in water in a test tube. These larvae hatch from eggs and develop in stages to form the adult winged form. This mosquito, native to South-East Asia and the Indian Ocean, is a vector for pathogens such as West Nile virus, yellow fever virus, dengue virus and zika virus. Photographed at a laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, France.
