Description
Brain waves. An electroencephalogram (EEG) track superimposed on the profile of a woman. An EEG is the record obtained by amplifying the electrical activity of the brain. Electrodes are placed on the scalp in various locations and are connected to an instrument that measures the brain impulses in microvolts and then amplifies them. The track seen here is associated with beta brain waves which are fast oscillations seen when somebody is concentrating on an external stimulus. EEG may help in the diagnosis of certain conditions such as epilepsy, encephalitis, dementia and brain tumour.
