Description
Alzheimer's drugs. Blister pack and boxes of galantamine (Reminyl) and memantine (Ebixa) drugs. These drugs are both used in the early treatment of dementia. Galantamine inhibits the action of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which destroys the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Lack of neurotransmitters is thought to play a role in Alzheimer's disease, a common cause of dementia in the elderly. Memantine helps to reduce abnormal activity in the brain.
