Description
Film badge radiation dosimeters. Film badge dose meters (dosimeters) are worn by people who work around sources of radiation to measure their exposure. They contain either photographic film or dental X-ray film (lower right), which can be removed and developed to show exposure. There are strict limits to the amount of radiation to which nuclear industry workers, and those working with radioactive materials in laboratories, can be exposed. Devices such as these help ensure the workers' exposure is kept within these limits.
