Description
Caricature of the English mathematician and philosopher Alfred North Whitehead (1861-1947) holding a copy of his 1929 book 'Process and Reality'. Whitehead is best known as the defining figure of process philosophy, which today has found application in a wide variety of disciplines, including ecology, theology, education, physics, biology, economics and psychology. He wrote primarily on mathematics, logic and physics, with his most notable work being 'Principia Mathematica' (1910-13), which he wrote with former student Bertrand Russell. Today Whitehead's philosophical works (particularly Process and Reality) are regarded as the foundational texts of process philosophy.
