Description
Forensics fingerprinting material testing. Fingerprint impression moulds on a results sheet during testing of a new material being used to take the impressions. The impressions are taken by preparing a silicone-based elastomer material and applying it to the finger tips. The silicone elastomer dries on contact with air when a setting agent is added prior to use. This new material (blue) has been shown to set faster and produce clearer fingerprint detail than a comparison material (not seen). Photographed in 2007, at Cardiff University, Wales.
