Description
Forensics fingerprinting material testing. Fingerprint impression moulds in sample bags during testing of a new material being used to take the impressions. The impressions are taken by preparing a silicone-based elastomer material and applying it to the finger tips. The silicone elastomer dries on contact with air when a setting agent is added prior to use. This new material (blue) has been shown to set faster and produce clearer fingerprint detail than the comparison material being used here (green). Photographed in 2007, at Cardiff University, Wales.
