Insects of Surinam. 18th-century artwork showing a harlequin beetle (Acrocinus longimanus) on the fruit and leaves of an ethrog citron (Citrus medica). This artwork is Plate 28 from 'Metamorphosibus Insectorum Surinamensium' (1705) by German nature illustrator Maria Sybilla Merian (1647-1717). Surinam (now called Suriname) is in northern South America.
