Description
Human cytomegaloviruses (HCMV) in a cell producing 'owl's eye' inclusion bodies, computer illustration. The cells are multinucleated with perinuclear vacuolization. HCMV is a member of the herpesvirus family. It has a high infection rate and is a major cause of disease in vulnerable newborns and immunocompromised patients, but does not typically cause disease in healthy adults.
