Description
Herpes simplex virus (HSV-2, DNA virus) on and in a peripheral blood lymphocyte (Herpesviridae Family), transmission electron micrograph (TEM). Herpes simplex is a viral infection. Herpes simplex virus exhibits the classical receptor mediated endocytosis of virus particles. HSV-1 produces most cold sores. HSV-2 causes most of the genital herpes cases. HSV-6 causes neuroinflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis, encephalitis and pneumonitis. Magnification: x3,730 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
