Description
Military arctic survival training. Navy recruit lighting a match inside a snowhole, Northern Greenland. The recruit is undergoing arctic survival training to become a member of the Royal Danish Navy's SIRIUS sledge patrol unit. Other tasks required during training include long- distance trekking on skis, hunting for food, driving dogsledge teams and surviving and rescuing fallen personnel from icy water. The primary task of SIRIUS is to patrol, survey and protect Danish territory in North and Northeast Greenland.
