Description
Pterosaur (Pterodaustro sp.), artwork. Pterodaustro lived during the Early Cretaceous, 105 million years ago. It had a very elongated skull with jaws that curved upwards. The lower jaw was lined with a thousand bristle-like teeth that may have been used to filter feed for small crustaceans in water. It had a wingspan of up to three metres. It is shown here on the ground using its wings as a pair of front legs. It is thought that unlike birds, pterosaurs used all four limbs when moving on the ground.
