Description
Military arctic survival training. Navy recruits maintaining body heat by keeping in close contact with each other during arctic survival training in Northern Greenland. A metal foil sheet covering their upper bodies and the hide of a slaughtered muskox protects them from the cold. The recruits are training to become members of the Royal Danish Navy's SIRIUS sledge patrol unit. The primary task of SIRIUS is to patrol, survey and protect Danish territory in North and Northeast Greenland. During training, the recruit must learn to survive sub- zero temperatures, create emergency snow shelters, hunt for food and drive dogsledge teams.
