Description
Chemical weapons disposal. Technician wearing a protective suit in a contaminated area at the US Army's Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility, Utah, USA. This is a Demilitarization Protective Ensemble (DPE) suit. Air is supplied through the black hose (lower left) at positive (greater than atmospheric) pressure. This means that if the suit is breached, air will flow out, preventing potentially contaminated air from flowing in. The suit is heat sealed. It is discarded after one use. Once chemical munitions are dismantled, the payloads are destroyed in a furnace at 1500 degrees Celsius.
