Description
Arctic temperatures. Computer model showing the average surface temperatures from December to May in the Arctic region for the years 1990 to 1999. Temperatures considered normal are white. Temperatures cooler than normal, range from light grey to dark grey (coolest) and temperatures warmer than normal, range from yellow to red (warmest). During this period the average Arctic temperature was warmer than normal over most of the region. This model was produced as part of a study on the impact of ozone (a greenhouse gas) in the lowest part of the atmosphere (troposphere) on Arctic surface temperatures.
