Description
Uluru in spring, with altocumulus stratiformis clouds overhead. Uluru is a large sandstone rock formation, the visible part of a much larger underground rock formation. It rises more than 318 metres above the surrounding plain. An Aboriginal sacred site, it is located in Kata Tjuta National Park. Altocumulus clouds occur at middle altitudes (2400-6000 metres). There are several types of altocumulus clouds. Altocumulus stratiformis typically forms sheets and is associated with fair weather. Photographed just after noon in October.
