Description
Tropical storm. Surfers illegally jumping from a pier at Isle of Palms, South Carolina. They are trying to catch the tall waves caused by Tropical Storm Kyle. Tropical storms form when there is large scale evaporation and convection over areas of warm sea surface, typically during the late summer months. Dense clouds bring violent thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds. Kyle hit the American Eastern Seaboard on 11th October, 2002 and lasted for 22 days, making it one of the longest-lived Atlantic tropical cyclones.
