Description
Synuclein protein in Parkinson's disease, molecular model. The protein alpha-synuclein is shown here accumulating in tangles called fibrils. It is thought that the accumulation of this protein causes the progressive degeneration of brain neurons that leads to the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. These symptoms include tremor, muscular rigidity, poor balance and depression.
