Description
Pale fork-marked lemur (Phaner pallescens) in a tree. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Also known as the western fork-marked lemur, this lemur is nocturnal. It feeds on plant sap, tree gum and nectar that it extracts with its long tongue. Photographed in the Kirindy Deciduous Forest, Western Madagascar.
