Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), close-up of the head. This large eagle is found in wilderness and mountainous areas throughout the northern hemisphere. They get their name from the golden feathers they have on their head and neck. Golden eagles eat mammals, up to the size of young deer, birds and, if necessary, carrion. Photographed in the UK.
