Description
Dust storm, Kansas, 1935. Wall of dust approaching a group of small buildings in Kansas, USA. Years of poor agricultural practice and drought led to wind erosion of the topsoil in the Great Plains of midwest America during the 1930s. This ecological disaster was known as the 'Dust Bowl' and caused devastation through loss of crops, livelihood and homelessness. Photographed in October 1935.
