Bladder wrack (Fucus vesiculosus) seaweed in a rock pool. As a good source of iodine this seaweed was used in the nineteenth century to treat goitre. Goitre is a swelling of the thyroid gland caused by iodine deficiency. Photographed in Devon, UK.
