Description
Robust ghost pipefish. Two robust ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus) camouflaged on the sea bed. The larger fish (top) is a female, the other is a male. These fish are found alone or in pairs in bays and lagoons of the Indo-Pacific region. They are the largest of the ghost pipefish, with the females reaching lengths of 15 centimetres. They feed on crustaceans that they suck up with their tube-like mouths. Photographed in the Andaman Sea, Thailand.
