Description
MODEL RELEASED. Rehabilitation therapy. Woman suffering from compression of the spinal cord (medulla spinalis), doing rehabilitation exercises with a physiotherapist. Spinal cord compression can result from trauma to the spine, slipped discs or a tumour, which apply pressure to the spinal cord. Depending on the location of the compression, different degrees of paralysis result. Depending on the cause, the compression may be treatable with surgery or radio- and chemotherapy. This woman's head is immobilised by a brace to help the spine to heal. She is using a hand exerciser to help regain and maintain the mobility in her hand.
